Terms of Service – Sekretne Historie (Secret Stories)
Version 1.2 · effective from 15 October 2026
Change from version 1.1: § 5(7) on unlocking Chapters with Coins automatically was added.
This is an English translation of the Polish Terms of Service (https://sekretnehistorie.pl/terms/1.2). In the event of any discrepancy, the Polish version prevails.
§ 1. General provisions and definitions
- These Terms of Service (the "Terms") set out the rules for using the "Sekretne Historie" service, including the types and scope of services, how contracts are concluded and terminated, and the complaints procedure. They are the terms referred to in Article 8 of the Polish Act of 18 July 2002 on the Provision of Electronically Supplied Services.

- App Store (in the generic sense) means Apple's App Store or Google's Google Play;
- User means any person using the Service;
- Customer means a User who buys Coins or a VIP Subscription;
- Consumer means a natural person who enters into a contract with the Provider that is not directly related to their business or professional activity; the provisions on Consumers also apply to a natural person entering into a contract directly related to their business activity where the contract shows that it is not of a professional nature for them;
- Account means a User's individual account in the Service, which records, in particular, the Coin balance, unlocked Chapters and VIP Subscription status;
- Anonymous Account means an Account created automatically in the App upon the first purchase, not linked to an e-mail address;
- Novel means a work published in the Service in instalments, in Polish;
- Chapter means part of a Novel made available as text and, where one has been produced, as an audio recording (audiobook);
- Coins means virtual units used solely to unlock Chapters in the Service;
- VIP Subscription means paid, automatically renewing access to all published Chapters;

- Contact:
- e-mail: novels@gotoit.pl (the fastest way to reach us);
- telephone: +48 509 437 668;
- postal address: ul. Słoneczna 9A, 55-080 Smolec, Poland.
§ 3. Services and technical requirements
- Through the Service, the Provider offers:
- access to the catalogue of Novels and to free Chapters;
- an Account;
- the sale of Coins and the unlocking of Chapters with Coins;
- the VIP Subscription;
- e-mails relating to the Account and orders: login codes and links, purchase confirmations, notices of changes to these Terms or to prices, and reminders about an unfinished order, sent no more than once a week (you can opt out of reminders with one click).
- To use the Service you need:
- for the Website – a device with internet access and an up-to-date web browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge) with JavaScript and browser local storage enabled;
- for the App – a device running iOS 16 or later or Android 7.0 or later, with internet access, and – for purchases – an account with the relevant App Store;
- for signing in with an e-mail address – an active e-mail inbox.
- Using electronically supplied services carries typical risks, such as malware, phishing or someone gaining access to your e-mail inbox. Protect your devices and inbox and never share one-time login codes or login links with anyone.
- Users must use the Service in accordance with the law, these Terms and good practice. In particular, it is prohibited to provide unlawful content, circumvent technical safeguards, download content automatically (e.g. scraping) or disrupt the operation of the Service.
§ 4. Account
- The Account is free of charge. The contract for maintaining an Account is concluded for an indefinite period when the Account is created.
- Signing in is password-free: the User enters their e-mail address and then types in the one-time code sent to that address or uses the login link from the e-mail. On the Website, Users can also sign in with a Google account. A purchase on the Website requires an e-mail address; the purchase is assigned to the Account linked to that address.
- In the App, purchases can be made without providing an e-mail address. In that case, an Anonymous Account is created automatically upon the first purchase and assigned to the App installed on that device. The User may sign in to the App with an e-mail address at any time; the purchases from the Anonymous Account are then moved to the Account linked to that address and become available on other devices and on the Website.
- Important: Coins held on an Anonymous Account that has not been linked to an e-mail address cannot be recovered if the device or the App is lost (e.g. after uninstalling the App or deleting its data). The same applies to Chapters unlocked with those Coins. A VIP Subscription bought in the App can be restored using the "Restore purchases" function with the same App Store account. We recommend linking your Account to an e-mail address as soon as possible.
- Purchases made on the Website and in the App are available in both channels if the User signs in with the same e-mail address.
- Users must provide an e-mail address to which they alone have access. The Account is for the User's personal use and may not be shared with others.
- The User may delete the Account at any time:
- in the App – on the Account tab, using "Usuń konto" (Delete account);
- on the Website – after signing in, on the account page (sekretnehistorie.pl/account), using "Usuń konto" (Delete account);
- by sending a request to novels@gotoit.pl from the e-mail address linked to the Account.
Detailed instructions are available at https://sekretnehistorie.pl/delete-account.
- Deleting the Account terminates the contract for maintaining the Account, cannot be undone and results in the loss of unused Coins, unlocked Chapters and VIP access. Deleting the Account automatically cancels a VIP Subscription bought on the Website – no further payments are taken. Order data and accounting records are kept for the period required by law, without being linked to the e-mail address, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Neither deleting the Account nor uninstalling the App cancels a subscription bought through an App Store – it must be cancelled in the Apple or Google account settings (§ 7(4)).
- The Provider may terminate the contract for maintaining an Account for valid reasons, in particular if the Service is discontinued or the User breaches these Terms, with 30 days' notice. In the event of a serious breach of these Terms or the law (e.g. distributing Digital Content), it may do so with immediate effect, where possible after first asking the User to stop the breach. If the Provider terminates the contract for reasons not attributable to the User, the Provider refunds the value of unused Coins (pro rata to the price of the pack they come from) and the pro rata part of the fee for the unused period of the VIP Subscription.
§ 5. Content and access
- The first Chapters of every Novel are free; their number is shown with the Novel (for the Novel "Do niedzieli", Chapters 1–4).
- Further Chapters can be unlocked:
- with Coins – unlocking one Chapter costs 20 Coins;
- with a VIP Subscription, which gives access to all published Chapters for as long as it is active.
- A Chapter unlocked with Coins remains unlocked for the Account (subject to § 4(4) and § 4(8)). When a VIP Subscription ends, access to Chapters made available under it expires; Chapters unlocked with Coins remain available.
- Coins:
- have no cash value and are neither money nor electronic money;
- cannot be transferred to another Account or to another person;
- cannot be exchanged for money or refunded in cash, subject to § 4(10), § 8 and mandatory provisions of law;
- do not expire – they remain on the Account until they are used or the Account is deleted.
- Chapters are available within the Service – on the Website and in the App. The number of Chapters published for each Novel is shown in the Service. No Coins are charged for a Chapter that has not been published yet.
- The Website may present Novels whose paid Chapters are not yet available (only their free Chapters are then available on the Website). Such Novels are not available in the App. They are not specially marked before payment – the Customer learns that the paid Chapters of such a Novel are not yet available only after paying. If a Customer pays for an order placed from such a Novel, the order is not fulfilled: no Coins are credited, no VIP Subscription is activated (and the recurring payment is cancelled), and the Provider automatically refunds the full amount using the same payment method, without the Customer having to ask; the refund is ordered as soon as the payment is booked and usually reaches the Customer's account within 3 business days. The Customer bears no costs for this.
- Automatic unlocking of Chapters with Coins:
- The "Unlock the next chapters automatically" feature is on by default. The User can turn it off and on again at any time – on the Website in the Account or when unlocking a Chapter, and in the App in the Account tab or in the purchase sheet.
- On a given device the feature starts working only after the User has unlocked a Chapter with Coins themselves, with the button, while the "Unlock the next chapters automatically" box was visible and ticked. The first unlock with Coins therefore always requires the User's action.
- While the feature works, moving on to the next Chapter that is not unlocked yet – with the button at the end of a Chapter, and in the App also with the player's next-chapter button or when the audiobook plays on – unlocks it for 20 Coins without further confirmation. Chapters opened in another way, e.g. from the list of Chapters or from a link, are never unlocked automatically.
- No Coins are taken when the balance is too low, when the Chapter is available under a VIP Subscription or when it has already been unlocked. While the App runs in the background (e.g. with the screen locked), at most 3 consecutive Chapters are unlocked automatically; further ones only after the User returns to the App. After each automatic unlock the Service shows the number of Coins taken and the remaining balance and lets the User turn the feature off.
- In older versions of the App the feature is off by default and works from the moment the User turns it on; the first sentence of point 1 and point 2 do not apply there.
§ 6. Prices, orders and payments
- Prices are given in Polish zloty (PLN) and include VAT. The binding price is the one shown in the Service or in the App Store payment window at the time of the order.
- Prices as at the effective date of these Terms:
Product Price 300 Coins PLN 4.99 1,000 Coins PLN 12.99 2,500 Coins PLN 27.99 6,000 Coins PLN 59.99 VIP na tydzień (VIP Subscription – weekly) PLN 17.99 per week VIP na miesiąc (VIP Subscription – monthly) PLN 29.99 per month VIP na rok (VIP Subscription – yearly) PLN 179.99 per year
- Purchases on the Website. To place an order, the Customer selects a product, enters an e-mail address and chooses a payment method. Customers can pay:
- by BLIK – processed by Tpay (Krajowy Integrator Płatności S.A.); for the VIP Subscription this is a recurring BLIK payment (Płatności Powtarzalne BLIK), available at banks that support it;
- by payment card, Apple Pay or Google Pay – processed by Stripe.
The payment operator's terms also apply to the payment. By placing and paying for an order, the Customer accepts these Terms.
- Purchases in the App. Payments are made through Apple (App Store in-app purchases) or Google (Google Play billing) and are processed by them. The terms of the relevant App Store also apply to payment, management of subscription renewals and refunds for these purchases. This does not limit the Consumer's statutory rights against the Provider, in particular those described in § 8 and § 9.
- The contract for the supply of Coins or a VIP Subscription is concluded when the order is placed and paid for. Coins are credited to the Account and the VIP Subscription is activated promptly once the Provider receives payment confirmation from the payment operator or the App Store (subject to § 5(6)).
- The Provider sends purchase confirmation to the e-mail address linked to the Account; for an Anonymous Account, transaction confirmation is provided by Apple or Google. Customers may request an invoice by writing to novels@gotoit.pl.
§ 7. VIP Subscription – renewal and cancellation
- The VIP Subscription is available on a weekly, monthly or yearly basis, at the prices set out in § 6(2). If the Account already has an active VIP Subscription, another one cannot be bought on the Website.
- The subscription renews automatically for another period of the same length until cancelled. The fee for each new period is charged automatically at its start. Before purchasing, the Customer is informed of the price, the billing period and the automatic renewal.
- Subscriptions bought on the Website: the Customer authorises the Provider to charge the selected payment method on a recurring basis (recurring BLIK, or a card or wallet processed by Stripe). The Customer may cancel at any time:
- on the Website – on the account page (sekretnehistorie.pl/account), using "Anuluj subskrypcję" (Cancel subscription);
- in the App – after signing in with the same e-mail address, on the Account tab;
- by writing to novels@gotoit.pl.
After cancellation, VIP access remains active until the end of the paid period and no further charges are made.
- Subscriptions bought in the App are billed by Apple or Google and can only be cancelled there:
- App Store – in iPhone Settings: tap your name, then "Subscriptions";
- Google Play – in the Google Play app: Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
To avoid being charged for the next period, cancel before it starts – on the App Store at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Neither uninstalling the App nor deleting the Account cancels the subscription.
- Cancelling a subscription does not entitle the Customer to a pro-rata refund for the current period, without prejudice to § 4(10), § 8 and the Consumer's rights under mandatory provisions of law.
- If the fee for the next period of a subscription bought on the Website cannot be collected, the Provider or the payment operator retries the charge: for BLIK about 1 and 3 days after the first attempt; for cards according to the schedule of the operator Stripe. During this time VIP access is kept, but for no longer than 4 days after the end of the paid period. If the attempts fail, the VIP Subscription ends. For subscriptions bought in the App, payment retries follow the App Store's rules.
- The Provider will notify the Customer by e-mail of any change in the price of a VIP Subscription bought on the Website at least 30 days before it takes effect. The change does not apply to a period already paid for. A Customer who does not accept the new price may cancel the subscription before it takes effect at no extra cost. Price changes for subscriptions bought in the App follow the rules of the relevant App Store, which informs the subscriber.
§ 8. Right of withdrawal
- Coins, Chapters and the VIP Subscription are Digital Content not supplied on a tangible medium. The Provider supplies them promptly after the contract is concluded.
- A Consumer may withdraw from a distance contract (in particular a contract for the supply of Coins or a VIP Subscription) without giving any reason within 14 days of the day the contract was concluded.
- To withdraw, it is enough to send a withdrawal statement before that period expires, e.g. by e-mail to novels@gotoit.pl or in writing to the Provider's address. It helps to include the e-mail address linked to the Account and the purchase date or order number. The Consumer may use the model withdrawal form set out in Annex 2 to the Consumer Rights Act, but this is not mandatory.
- The Provider refunds all payments made under the contract without undue delay and no later than 14 days after receiving the withdrawal statement, using the same payment method as the Consumer used, unless the Consumer agrees to another method that involves no costs for them. Payments for App purchases are received by Apple or Google, so the Provider will explain how to request the refund from the App Store and, if a refund that way is not possible, will refund the payment in another way agreed with the Consumer.
- After withdrawal, the Provider may prevent further use of the Digital Content supplied under the contract – in particular by deducting the Coins from that purchase from the Account and ending the VIP Subscription. A Consumer who has not given the consent referred to in paragraph 6 does not bear any cost for Digital Content supplied before the withdrawal.
- The right of withdrawal does not apply (lapses) only where, in accordance with Article 38(1)(13) of the Consumer Rights Act, the Provider began supplying the Digital Content with the Consumer's express prior consent, the Consumer was informed before performance began that they would lose the right of withdrawal once performance was completed and acknowledged this, and the Provider gave the Consumer confirmation of the contract on a durable medium. If the Consumer has not given such consent, the right of withdrawal applies as described in paragraphs 2–5.
- Regardless of the above, the User may terminate the contract for maintaining the Account at any time by deleting the Account (§ 4(7)) and may cancel the VIP Subscription (§ 7).
§ 9. Complaints
- The Provider is liable to the Consumer for supplying the Digital Content and for its conformity with the contract under Chapter 5b of the Consumer Rights Act. In the event of a lack of conformity, the Consumer may demand that the Digital Content be brought into conformity and, in the cases provided for by the Act, a price reduction or withdrawal from the contract.
- Complaints, including those about App purchases, may be submitted by e-mail to novels@gotoit.pl or in writing to the Provider's address. It helps to include the e-mail address linked to the Account, a description of the problem, the date it occurred and what you are requesting. This makes the complaint easier to handle but is not a condition for it to be considered.
- The Provider responds to complaints within 14 days of receipt, by e-mail or in another way indicated by the person making the complaint. If the Provider does not respond to a Consumer's complaint within that period, the complaint is deemed to have been accepted.
- A refund for an App purchase may also be requested directly from the App Store under its rules. This does not limit the Consumer's rights against the Provider referred to in paragraph 1 and in § 8.
- Consumers may use out-of-court complaint and redress procedures, in particular by seeking help from their district (municipal) consumer ombudsman (rzecznik konsumentów), applying to the Voivodeship Inspector of Trade Inspection (WIIH) to initiate mediation, or applying to the permanent consumer arbitration court operating at the Voivodeship Inspectorate of Trade Inspection. Information on these procedures is available on the website of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK). Using out-of-court dispute resolution is voluntary and requires the consent of both parties; the Provider considers each such request individually.
§ 10. Liability
- The Provider makes every effort to ensure the Service works properly. Technical breaks (e.g. maintenance, updates) may occur; where possible, the Provider announces them in advance.
- The Provider is not liable for:
- interruptions or disruptions caused by force majeure or by internet providers, App Stores or payment operators, unless they result from circumstances for which the Provider is responsible;
- the consequences of the User sharing a login code or link, or access to their e-mail inbox, with third parties;
- the loss of Coins or Chapters on an Anonymous Account not linked to an e-mail address in the situations described in § 4(4), unless the loss results from causes attributable to the Provider.
- Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits the Provider's liability towards Consumers to the extent that mandatory provisions of law do not permit this.
- Towards Customers who are not Consumers, the Provider's liability is limited to the price paid for the Digital Content concerned and does not cover lost profits; this limitation does not apply to damage caused intentionally.
§ 11. Content for adults
- The Service is intended solely for adults (18+); minors may not use it. By using the Service, the User confirms that they are at least 18 years old.
- Novels (including "Do niedzieli") may contain content intended only for adults. Before displaying such content, the Website and the App ask the User to confirm that they are of age.
§ 12. Copyright
- Novels, Chapters (texts and audio recordings), covers, graphics, the names "Sekretne Historie" and "Secret Stories" and other elements of the Service are legally protected, in particular by copyright. The rights belong to the Provider or its licensors.
- On gaining access to Digital Content, the User receives a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it within the Service, solely for their own personal use, for as long as they have access. Copies of Chapters saved in the App for offline reading may only be displayed in the App.
- Without the Provider's consent, it is prohibited in particular to copy, record, distribute or publicly share Digital Content, to resell it, to share the Account with third parties, or to use Digital Content for text and data mining, including training artificial intelligence models – the Provider expressly reserves this prohibition.
- Breaching these rules may result in access being blocked or the contract being terminated under § 4(10).
§ 13. Changes to these Terms
- The Provider may change these Terms for valid reasons, in particular changes in the law, in the scope or manner of providing the services or in payment methods, or for security reasons.
- The Provider will give notice of changes at least 14 days before they take effect – in the Service and by e-mail to Users whose Accounts are linked to an e-mail address.
- A User who does not accept the changes may, before they take effect, terminate the contract for maintaining an Account by deleting the Account, and cancel the VIP Subscription.
- Changes to these Terms do not affect rights acquired before they take effect; in particular, they do not affect Coins held, unlocked Chapters or paid VIP Subscription periods.
§ 14. Final provisions
- These Terms are governed by Polish law. This choice of law does not deprive a Consumer of the protection afforded by provisions that cannot be excluded by agreement under the law of the country of their habitual residence.
- Disputes with Consumers are resolved by the courts having jurisdiction under general rules. Disputes with Customers who are not Consumers are resolved by the court having jurisdiction over the Provider's registered office.
- The processing of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy available at https://sekretnehistorie.pl/privacy (English version: https://sekretnehistorie.pl/privacy/en).
- These Terms are available free of charge on the Website at https://sekretnehistorie.pl/terms (and linked from the App), in a form that allows them to be downloaded, saved and printed.
- This English version is a translation, available at https://sekretnehistorie.pl/terms/en. In the event of any discrepancy, the Polish version prevails.
